After being released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last summer, it’s time for the Nintendo Switch release. This will allow you to play on the go. Yes there was also a Stadia release but let’s be honest, Stadia is pretty much DOA.

Here is the trailer:

Samurai Shodown brings 2.5D to the table. It’s more of a reboot of the series. It takes place between the the 5th game and the 1st game. The 5th was a prequel of the 1st, so this is also a prequel to the 1st game. Kind of weird but it works.

Samurai Shodown has always been a decent fighting series, with a very unique game play style, and this latest version is no exception. Heavy attacks take a lot of damage (more than a special attacks) but they’re very easy to block or counter. On the other hand you can’t however block forever because you will eventually get block stunned. So it’s heavily based on timing and precision.

If you already played previous games you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. If not and you like fighting games this is definitely a worthwhile purchase. Here’s the link for the digital version, which costs $49.99. It’s $10 cheaper than the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions. Usually you need pay the Nintendo Switch tax but not this time.
