Vicious Circle is a multiplayer FPS developer by Rooster Teeth Games. The game about fun above all, not skill or realism.
Here’s the trailer:
As the developers say in the description this is an uncooperative multiplayer FPS. Basically it’s everyone for themselves. The objective is to get more loot than everyone else and for that the game encourages you to use dirty tricks.
As a mercenary you cannot kill other mercenaries but you can use your environment to stop your opponents. For example, you can lock you others inside a room with monsters or use gadgets to steal loot. Only the mercenary with more loot gets to win.
As a monster you simply have to kill everyone. If mercenaries join together you won’t have much a chance but you can and should track each mercenary when they’re alone. You have sneaky.
Despite being uncooperative it seems like if you want to survive as a mercenary you actually have to be cooperative in order to beat the monsters. It just so happens that once you’re done with the monsters you have to beat each other. Looks like this could lead to a lot of out of the box strategies.
This is a welcome change in this age were being a team member is seen as the holy virtue above all. Perhaps to a fault. After all improving yourself is just as important as working with others. But will it be able to compete with all the other FPS? Only time will tell. The game is on sale right now on Steam only. No consoles, no mobile phones and no other PC stores. The game only costs $20.
