Bullet hell games are a niche genre but those who like it will always want more. It’s kind of like fighting games, more is better. Profane is an Indie game developed by OverPowered Team and published by Alternative Software Ltd.

OverPowered Team is a small team of 5 people that have developed a few games, mostly browser games on Itch.io. Profane is the first game on Steam. Not much to write about but it could be a decent team in the future.

Here is the trailer of Profane:

This is a boss rush bullet hell game, so you have to destroy bosses while avoiding a lot of bullets. It’s a rouge like game as well so expect different paths all the time. Straightforward so far but there’s a catch, you don’t have an HP bar, only a timer. If the time runs out you’re dead, so you have to be quick. To help you out you will get new abilities which will change the way you play. However, to buy skills you have to sacrifice time, so choose wisely.

A common issue in 3D bullet hell games is that it can become hard to distinguish bullets but this game graphics are purposely very simple and very fluid so it doesn’t seem to be a problem. As of now there are no negative reviews on Steam. The positive reviews mention the game difficulty, art style and replay value. Some even believe this is the best boss rush game they’ve played, often comparing with Furi.

If you like boss rush, bullet hell and rogue like games, this seems to be a game for you, at least according to reviews. It costs $18.99 right now on Steam. The 1 cent trick again but with a catch of leaving 1 dollar. Good enough for a cup of coffee or perhaps a small game.
